Sami village is just over a mile away from the capital of Kefalonia. It is the second most important port after the main port of Argostoli and it has regular ferry services to Patras, Ithaca and Italy. It is a charming but working town with a long waterfront lined with shaded restaurants and taverns serving the locally caught fish of the day. In the surrounding area it has very interesting monasteries, fantastic underground lakes and caves and many beautiful sandy beaches. You can usually find a small cove or sheltered beach all to yourself or, if you prefer, there are many places to relax around the town with many amenities at your disposal.
